Once upon a time there were three monkeys, one was simple, one of average intelligence, and one was very intelligent.  The simple one was content just living off the land, in complete harmony with nature. Others laughed at him for his lack of drive, lack of intelligence, and lack of success.

The monkey with average intelligence created spears and swords, and was able to get his group to join in war with him. They killed other rivals and gained many spoils, more land, more women, and more honor. They were called knights and he was made king.

The third monkey from another group was the most intelligent monkey ever.  He created great technologies, factories to grow more food, extract more coal and oil from the ground, and weapons of mass destruction. With his military he dominated the world, killing any and all in his path. The sky was black with the soot from the factories, millions of acres of forest were destroyed to create farms for cattle and corn.  He was adored as a God, and his family were royalty known all over the world.

But he always faced new rivals, new challenges.  And he was ambitious and motivated for greater successes in life. Never satisfied with what he had, he always wanted more. One day he unleashed a fury of weapons at his enemies and set off a chain of events that ended up destroying life on the entire planet.

My question: how smart really, was this intelligent monkey?  Rather stupid if you ask me.

How intelligent do you consider yourself? Do you have any bad habits? Do you seem to undermine yourself? Does your self talk often seem too critical?

Plenty of doctors are drug addicts, some even to heroine. Plenty of Ivy Leage educated wealthy wall street bankers are criminals and the ones who get caught sometimes go to jail.

Even more ironic, those same Harvard and Yale educated Wall Street bankers are the same ones who blew up the economy, causing untold suffering to millions of people all over the world. How intelligent was that?

And the best doctors of our times, the brightest minds, still pump cancer patients full of toxic chemotherapy with dismal success rates. While other therapies are known to be less toxic, more healthy and more successful for those suffering from cancer. How intelligent is that?

“Real intelligence does not hurt itself…” says bestselling author Guy Finley. Given that standard I would say we are all lacking the most essential type of intelligence.

People suffer from so much stress and negative emotional duress and they do not have to. Most of it could be released simply by waking up to the facts. By using the true intelligence we all have inside us. Intelligence is a feature designed to help us solve our problems.  To enable us to feel good and happy. Yet all too often it brings with it more unhappiness.  Real intelligence is that which is applied to the fundamental problem we all have – the best way to achieve lasting happiness.  And its not with bigger factories, bigger profits, or more drugs.

One day out of the rubble and ruins, the monkeys began talking about a simple monkey high up on the mountain who escaped the wrath of destruction from the intelligent monkey. “Maybe he is a smarter monkey” “Maybe he is a God” they wondered. So a young motivated monkey journeyed up to find this simple monkey living in the mountains.

When he found him, living in little shack in a veritable Garden of Eden, he asked to learn how he had know the way. (the way around the destruction inherent in intelligence and blind ambition). The simple monkey told him to get as much gold as he could in payment, and he would teach him then the way.  So off he went to beg, borrow and steal as much gold as he could.

With pride he handed over the gold. The simple monkey took the gold in his hand, and laughing, threw it off a cliff overlooking the dense forest shouting “What need do I have for your gold? The whole world is golden to me!”

Existence itself is golden. You can read these words but you probably do not know what they truly mean.  But ’seek and you shall find…’ – I ask you – what does it profit a man to be so intelligent and successful if he is, in the bottom of his heart, still unhappy? Still seeking more to quench this unquenchable hunger?

Getting in touch with how you feel is the first step to discover whats really bothering you. So welcome the stress, anxiety and depression – its here to help you wake up!

Do Nothing and Change Everything! As the CEO of Pure Life, I get people calling in every day with serious emotional and physical issues. Of course almost always they are related. There is, I find, an emotional component to everything in your life, including your health and disease states.

What people most seek is to change things. They want to feel better, to have less stress, anxiety and depression. To lose weight, to make more money, to have better relationships with their family. The list goes on and on for most of us. Yet quite often things do not change, or they are too slow to change, or worse – they can take a turn for the worse. Other than taking healthy products like Gabatrol to make ourselves feel better, are there other positive things we can do? Of course there is, exercise, a good diet and proper sleep can make us cope better too, but these things don’t seem to be the solutions we are searching for.

Fortunately there is one special thing that all the great teachers of the ages have strived to teach. This one special thing is the key to unlock everything. This one special thing is the art of doing nothing. This is not a couch potato, lethargic, lazy, disconnected, apathetic nothing more of us are familiar to when we think of doing nothing. This brings us away from life, and its a way we trick ourselves into thinking we have escaped our problems. But it does not help in the long run. Neither do drugs, alcohol or any other addiction.

This form is an active, focused form of doing nothing. Its one of the key things I tell all my personal clients is to practice. Our minds have us convinced we need to do something to solve our problems. While this is helpful, at times no matter what we do things might not change. So the reason you would want to practice doing nothing is that it can create inside you a feeling of calm, of balance and peace. Resisting the urge to do something, we (with practice) gradually see that we can have the inner peace we desire simply by choosing it.

In fact it is always there, we just need to see it. The practice of doing nothing (others call it awareness, focus, meditation, etc) strengthens this insight and then allows us to go forward into the world of ‘everything’ from a different perspective. It empowers us. You have already experienced it in some form or another, as often doing one thing – being focused and in the moment while playing a sport, or gardening, fishing, watching a sunset, etc – gets us in the flow of the game of life and out of our minds.

But the most direct form of doing nothing is to just do what is needed to live: breathing. This is why breath work is so important, and why so many forms of meditation focus on the breath.

Those who devote themselves to the power of doing nothing, soon realize it is in fact the best way to change everything! It can cause a profound shift in your entire life. It sounds so simple, yet try it yourself and see just how (at first) hard it can be to quiet your mind. You too will one day see that this ‘nothing’ is in fact the source of ‘everything’!

How is it that people who ‘have it all’ can still have such avoidable problems? Once again, son of famed actor Martin Sheen, Charlie Sheen is in rehab due to drug and alcohol problems.

“Sheen did not show up for work on Monday and his bail — which requires that he not consume drugs or alcohol — could be revoked in Colorado, where he is awaiting trial on domestic-violence charges. The actor’s spokesman, Stan Rosenfield, described his client’s decision to enter rehab as a “preventative measure” and added he would “take some time off” from the series.”

Anyone abusing drugs or alcohol is doing so to feel good. Which means, in spite of being good looking and rich, Charlie Sheen is still unhappy. He suffers from some level of what makes people unhappy – feelings of stress, anxiety & depression.

Charlie Sheen and Wife Brooke

Even people who have it all can be unhappy

He is not alone. Everyone reaches for some form of comfort when we feel down or bad. Junk food, cigarettes, being a couch potatoe – you name it, we all have negative habits that threaten our lives.

The only way to fight this is #1) become aware of it before you reach out for something bad like drugs.
#2) Make a positive choice that can make you feel good. Exercise is one, as its been proven to make people feel better.

Another positive choice for unhappiness is Gabatrol. Fast acting and safe, Gabatrol can spin you off in a positive direction so that you can take back control of your life and get over what is weighing you down!

Someone should give Charlie Sheen a sample before he goes to rehab, maybe it could help him!

Exercise can reduce stress & depressionNothing is as healthy & can make you feel as good as exercise. Our body was designed to move, indeed our very language reflects this deep principle. From the Big Bang to now, the universe is still expanding. We too are literally energy in motion, put those two words together and you get ‘emotion’. Emotions drive us to action.
So if you want to feel great, overcome the stress and anxiety in your life, or just lose weight – you need to move!

“Exercise alone supports the spirits, and keeps the mind in vigor” Cicero

You do not need to go to the gym. In fact, in a world of stress, you are better off doing lower intensity exercise for your health. If you are an athlete or need to lose weight, then more intense exercise is in the program.

Get out in the woods, walk – preferably with some hills or steps to climb. Recent studies show exercise in nature (outdoors) elevates serotonin and can shift how we see life (values).

So get up and get out. It will change your life!

Tension Rx for stress and mood issues

Tension Rx - now replaced by Gabatrol

Many people had great results for reducing stress, anxiety and depression using Tension Rx by Biochem. The reason was Tension Rx featured a special form of GABA called phenyl-GABA. Unfortunately Tension Rx is no longer available on the market.
Gabatrol has the same active ingredient as the Tension Rx formula, plus much more. Gabatrol features phenyl-GABA (4-Amino-3-Phenylbutyric Acid) but goes one step further than Tension Rx by adding an array of ingredients that compliment the formula.
Kanna (sceletium): this rare herb from South Africa has potent effects on serotonin and dopamine. As such it can reduce stress, anxiety and depression and can even help control binge or emotional eating. Most people gain weight due to emotional eating – eating so called ‘comfort foods’.
Phenyl-GABA works on the brain neurotransmitter GABA, but we added L-theanine for enhanced effects on GABA. Theanine also increases feel good alpha brain waves.
Tyrosine: another amino-acid that can increase dopamine.
Taurine & Glycine: these amino-acids help to stabilize electrical signals across neurons. The result is better brain performance, resulting in less stress & anxiety, and also improved cognitive enhancement.
Try Gabatrol today! Feel the superior results as you reduce stress, anxiety and depression and get all you want out of life with far greater ease. Everything is easier when you have less stress, so you owe it to yourself to optimize your performance in the game of life!

Reducing stress can help you lose weight!

Every day we are seeing new studies come out on how reducing stress can improve health and prevent disease. Today another study shows that doing Yoga, which reduces stress, can lower IL-6, a chemical in the body that leads to inflammation. And inflammation is a major factor in weight gain, but also other conditions like cancer and heart disease.

Stress can cause an unhealthy increase of hormones in our body like cortisol and adrenalin. Like anxiety and depression, it can also make us reach out for comfort foods or other ‘feel good’ remedies like alcohol. This sets up a downward spiral of health and well being and leads to more inflammation.

Inflammation leads to altered insulin function, which combined with the tendency to do ‘emotional eating’ from stress – leads to getting fatter! Not what we want.

If you want to lose weight, you need to be aware of your levels of stress, anxiety and depression. If you feel the need for a fast acting, healthy way to reduce stress, anxiety and depression – try Gabatrol.

It works in as little as 15 minutes to get you back on the right track.

There is another big ‘O’ besides the one your mind conjures up when you hear the ‘O’ (I know what you’re thinking!). And it’s even more important for health and happiness. This big O is called oxygen.

In physics the ‘Higgs Boson’ is called the God particle, but to me it’s oxygen! This is because it’s the one thing above all else keeping us alive and it appears to be a cure for everything too. I call it the Big O.  It’s one of the best things you can take for depression, stress or anxiety.  It’s the key to healing your body from diseases (look up ozone therapy for more information). Oxygen is the ultimate fat burner, the fountain of youth, & the source of life. Best of all, it’s free, and you can get it anywhere. Oxygen makes up most of you – about 65% of your body is oxygen.

Oxygen actually functions as a neurotransmitter, so it’s intimately involved with how our brain works. This of course means it is a key to how we think and feel too. And as anyone who has tried it will attest – oxygen seems to make you feel better! This is one reason why exercise can reduce stress, anxiety and depression. It makes us feel good.  I think the negative ions in outdoor air is one reason why it seems exercise outside has more of an effect for me on feeling better then for example, exercising in the gym with the recirculated indoor air.

So if you feel stress or other negative emotions, try going outside for a brisk walk, run, hike or bike ride.  I think you will feel better real quick.  If you feel you cannot do that or lack the inspiration to, then consider another fast acting way by taking Gabatrol. Customers report that it works fast to safely and effectively reduce stress, anxiety and depression.

Does the voice inside your head speak out in a hard of soft manner?

Often our internal dialogue goes on without our awareness and creates more stress, anxiety and depression for us!

For example, in the gym my voice is a hard, Marine Type: “PUSH HARDER! DON’T QUIT NOW SOLDIER!” And it gets me to push harder, too hard at times. Same thing when I used to race motorcycles. Hence all my injuries. At home when I need to be writing my book, the soft voice dominates: “relax, take it easy, you deserve to…” and then telling me to spend more time reading, watching Book TV or to make another cup of coffee! It seems to lure me away from focusing on what I intended to do.

Neither voice in the extreme is healthy, and often other issues such as fear (fear of failure, fear of looking foolish etc) speak through these voices in our head. Ironically its often the wrong voice that dominates us as the above examples show.

I could see how others relate to internal self talk when I used to personal train clients in the gym. Some clients will push thru everything, injuries, naseau, even being sick. Others use any excuse to either cancel the session or when we train, they stop at the first hint of pain.

I’m not saying either is good or bad, it’s simply an interesting observation we all could take a look at. And in our ability to see, we become more aware and hence can take true action to balance ourselves yet once again.

This internal voice is key in how we think and talk inside our heads – often creating more stress, anxiety and depression for ourselves. Or if we can master the art of internal self talk, we can create more success and happiness in our life.

In fact there may be several voices (or conflicting desires)tearing us apart at once. For example, without our awareness, an internal battle of the voices ensues as we reach for the candy bar (or cake, martini, etc). I can just hear it now:  “You are too fat to eat that”, or “Go ahead, indulge – you deserve it!”, and “You can burn it off in the gym later”, “It’s (someone else’s) fault – he planted the idea of this by mentioning it to you!”, and on and on!

Remain vigilant to the inner dialogue of your mind. Don’t blindly trust your thoughts, they are NOT your friends!

So for me it means not getting up off this seat to grab a coffee, but forcing myself to get my writing done. Or when snowboarding, a little less intensity and cliff jumping would probably add years to my already battle weary knee injury.

If your own self talk does not seem to be working to get you motivated to do something or makes you more stressed – try Gabatrol. It can make you feel more positive and reduce negative feelings so that you can have the motivation to step up and do more positive things in your life. For example, some people report that when they feel depressed or lacking motivation to go to the gym – taking Gabatrol makes them feel better and they find themselves more motivated to go!

This of course creates a domino effect – they take Gabatrol, go to the gym, feel better and then they want to eat better too, and on and on! Gabatrol can spin you off in a more positive direction – its safe and fast-acting. Try it now!

Miniature Food Dollhouse - Polymer Clay Mini F...

Can foods that make us feel good actually make us sick and feel more stress, anxiety and depression in the long run? Yes! Look at alcohol for example – it’s a quick fix that makes us feel good short term, but often ends up making things worse all around.

Ironically the foods that we often find ourselves craving are the same ones we
are allergic to.  Even your doctor would not typically be able to discern this
as they measure the common IgG response in the body to determine allergies. IgG
elevation is typified by common allergy symptoms, including runny nose, red or
watery eyes, etc.

Subclinical (meaning not always able to be diagnosed by a doctor in a clinical
setting) allergies, like subclinical vitamin deficiences, often go untreated. In
this case, a food allergy can illicit an IgE response that can lead to reactions
such as headaches and weight gain. They can also affect our mood making us more sensitive to stress, anxiety and depression.

They do this because the food triggers the allergic reaction which then releases
epinepherine into the body. This is one of those ‘feel good’ chemicals and so we
end up craving the very food that is bad for us!

In addition, foods like wheat and chocolate (dairy too) produce opiate like
compounds in the body that also are addicting, hence we can end up craving those
foods as well. Wheat in particular is riddled with so many negative risk factors I tell all my clients to avoid wheat products as much as possible. If you must consume
grains, use brown rice, quinoa, pure rye, oats, or even the new sprouted grain
products (Ezekial) as they are less associated with side effects.

Top foods to avoid that produce toxic reactions in the body are wheat, sugar,
soy, corn and dairy.  Learn to gradually shift your consumption of these to
healthier alternatives. For sugar, naturally occurring sugars in fruits are
better, as is Agave, and zero calorie herbals Stevia and Lo Han.

With soy, fermented soy appears safer, so items like tempeh and tofu could be
used.  The health benefits of soy are questionalbe and as I try to adopt a
‘Controversy Free’ philosophy, if there is doubt, its best to avoid it as much
as possible.

For corn there are also many substitutes from other less popular grains.  Dairy
can be safe if you get it raw & unpastuerized but this is not easy to come by. So
nut milks like almond, or even goat products appear to be less reactive in the
body.

For a healthy ‘quick fix’ to make you feel better and reduce stress, anxiety and depression try safe, fast-acting Gabatrol. The ingredients in Gabatrol have been shown to help reduce emotional or binge eating and food cravings!

Holiday stress can make happy times unhappy

Holiday stress can make happy times unhappy

Stress comes in all forms and among the most stressful events are often those that we are supposed to be happy with!  That’s right, getting married, buying a new house, or getting ready for the holidays can actually be hazardous to your health.  That’s because the stress and anxiety you feel over these ‘happy events’ signal the same stress response in your body as the dangerous or unpleasant situations most people associate with stress (traffic, job loss, divorce, etc).

So it’s important for your health, and emotional well being, that you control holiday stress. After all, what good is the holiday if most of the time you are stressed out preparing for it?  Here is a list of the Top 10 Ways To Reduce Stress around the holiday:

Top 10 Ways To Reduce Holiday Stress:

10. Buy everyone gift cards

9.  Shop online

8. Never shop on the weekends

7. Take a ½ day off from work to shop with no crowds

 6. Shop with friends (sharing time kills two birds with one stone and alleviates stress)

5.  Get creative: think of home-made gifts that are easy and fun to make, plus less expensive!

4.  Be aware of how you feel:  when you feel stress increasing, practice taking slow, relaxed breaths to bring you back to center.

3.  Shop after the holidays: give everyone a card telling them the gift is still on the way!  You can even give them a hint of what you will get them to pique their interest.

2.  Pace yourself: after 1-2 hours of shopping, take a break. Have some tea or something.  Almost like being in the gym – you do a set of one exercise, then you rest, and do another. Here the sets are different stores. So you hit Macy’s, then rest, have some tea. Hit The Gap and Vitamin Shop (to buy Gabatrol for stress & anxiety of course!) then rest.

1.  Take Gabatrol for immediate relief from holiday stress and anxiety. Gabatrol will make you feel great in as little as 15 minutes! It’s safe, fast acting and will have you floating through your holiday shopping feeling relaxed and calm!
