Free Yourself From Stress, Anxiety & Depression

Once upon a time there were three monkeys, one was simple, one of average intelligence, and one was very intelligent.  The simple one was content just living off the land, in complete harmony with nature. Others laughed at him for his lack of drive, lack of intelligence, and lack of success.

The monkey with average intelligence created spears and swords, and was able to get his group to join in war with him. They killed other rivals and gained many spoils, more land, more women, and more honor. They were called knights and he was made king.

The third monkey from another group was the most intelligent monkey ever.  He created great technologies, factories to grow more food, extract more coal and oil from the ground, and weapons of mass destruction. With his military he dominated the world, killing any and all in his path. The sky was black with the soot from the factories, millions of acres of forest were destroyed to create farms for cattle and corn.  He was adored as a God, and his family were royalty known all over the world.

But he always faced new rivals, new challenges.  And he was ambitious and motivated for greater successes in life. Never satisfied with what he had, he always wanted more. One day he unleashed a fury of weapons at his enemies and set off a chain of events that ended up destroying life on the entire planet.

My question: how smart really, was this intelligent monkey?  Rather stupid if you ask me.

How intelligent do you consider yourself? Do you have any bad habits? Do you seem to undermine yourself? Does your self talk often seem too critical?

Plenty of doctors are drug addicts, some even to heroine. Plenty of Ivy Leage educated wealthy wall street bankers are criminals and the ones who get caught sometimes go to jail.

Even more ironic, those same Harvard and Yale educated Wall Street bankers are the same ones who blew up the economy, causing untold suffering to millions of people all over the world. How intelligent was that?

And the best doctors of our times, the brightest minds, still pump cancer patients full of toxic chemotherapy with dismal success rates. While other therapies are known to be less toxic, more healthy and more successful for those suffering from cancer. How intelligent is that?

“Real intelligence does not hurt itself…” says bestselling author Guy Finley. Given that standard I would say we are all lacking the most essential type of intelligence.

People suffer from so much stress and negative emotional duress and they do not have to. Most of it could be released simply by waking up to the facts. By using the true intelligence we all have inside us. Intelligence is a feature designed to help us solve our problems.  To enable us to feel good and happy. Yet all too often it brings with it more unhappiness.  Real intelligence is that which is applied to the fundamental problem we all have – the best way to achieve lasting happiness.  And its not with bigger factories, bigger profits, or more drugs.

One day out of the rubble and ruins, the monkeys began talking about a simple monkey high up on the mountain who escaped the wrath of destruction from the intelligent monkey. “Maybe he is a smarter monkey” “Maybe he is a God” they wondered. So a young motivated monkey journeyed up to find this simple monkey living in the mountains.

When he found him, living in little shack in a veritable Garden of Eden, he asked to learn how he had know the way. (the way around the destruction inherent in intelligence and blind ambition). The simple monkey told him to get as much gold as he could in payment, and he would teach him then the way.  So off he went to beg, borrow and steal as much gold as he could.

With pride he handed over the gold. The simple monkey took the gold in his hand, and laughing, threw it off a cliff overlooking the dense forest shouting “What need do I have for your gold? The whole world is golden to me!”

Existence itself is golden. You can read these words but you probably do not know what they truly mean.  But ’seek and you shall find…’ – I ask you – what does it profit a man to be so intelligent and successful if he is, in the bottom of his heart, still unhappy? Still seeking more to quench this unquenchable hunger?

Getting in touch with how you feel is the first step to discover whats really bothering you. So welcome the stress, anxiety and depression – its here to help you wake up!

Every month someone tells me they use Tylenol Pm to help them sleep. This in spite of the fact that over 26,000 people a year are hospitalized from adverse reactions to the drug.  And that almost 500 people in the US alone die from it! Please do not consider Tylenol PM a sleep medication. This is dangerous.

Ironically, people worry about the dangers of nutritional supplements, when the data shows not a single death reported from the use of nutritional supplements.

Gabatrol can help you sleep better. When you reduce stress and anxiety, its easier for your mind to let go and drift into deep, restful sleep. Plus its a safe, healthy alternative to risky OTC and RX medications.

My brother has this fascination with a psychological theory called ‘the denial of death’ that posits much of what humans do sociologically and psychologically is to deny their death.  Humans, as conscious creatures, are the only poor animals that can be tortured by thoughts in their mind. A mind they obviously have little control over (much to their denial of this fact too…but try yourself to just stop your thoughts for even 30 seconds! You cannot do it.)

People look for endless ways to lose themselves – to not have to really face themselves. Because the truth is there is no real self – its an artificial construct. In essence the self is already dead! How ironic! I mean after all, is a robot alive? No wonder someone once said, ‘let the dead bury the dead’.

The ’self is a reflection of the group, for in essence the self only exists in association with other ’selfs’. So we run around to various activities, losing ourselves in work, the kids, music, sex, drugs and alcohol, on and on, anything but to have to be still.  Stillness is painful. Painfully similar to …death.

How much better my brother would be if he took his learning and applied it on a personal level. All our anger, stress, anxiety frustration, and other negative emotions are because in essence – we deny death. Our ego assumes it will go on forever.  So we have a right to be angry and stressed because to endure forever in these situations of pain deserves our negative reactions.

We all are like little David, out of our mind, asleep to reality, and convinced this is real life. And that its going to be forever!

But if we were to awake to the fact that relatively speaking, we will be dead tomorrow, it might cause us to shift perspective.  I always remind myself on difficult days “What is there to worry about? I am going to be dead tomorrow!” and the shift begins. (In case you missed it, 70 short years on a cosmic scale is but a flash in the pan!)

Or said another way, “I am on vacation today, its my last day, and I fly home tomorrow. So what am I worried about? (Nothing).” It helps.

Every prophet from Jesus to the Buddha spoke of killing your self. what the heck do you think “Born Again” means? All wise men pointed to the fact that until you kill the ’self’ aka ego, you will forever endure the pain and suffering of this world. Some people love hell, they really do. And its easier when you are young, or rich, or successful. The trappings of this world bring you down deeper into it, and when its good, boy is it good! But what goes up must come down, and as they say “Oh how the mighty have fallen” (and sorry…”I’ve fallen and I can’t get up!” lol)

Start killing your self today! Its easy, get some rope and string a noose…just kidding! The only way to escape – the only way out – is in! You need to go inside the hole, the emptyness of self – to discover the whole. And in the process, magic will happen!

Start by doing some walking meditations, in the woods, alone – just focusing on one thing – each foot as it hits the ground. Its so simple, I bet you still cannot do it! Because you are possessed by the self that tells you do ANYHING but kill it!

How An Atheist Got Into Heaven:

Strange title? Not really, for once you understand that what you are seeking really cannot be put into words, then there are many ways to describe it. After all, what is heaven? A place? Or a feeling?  Your biggest error is thinking once you see yourself in heaven, then you will feel happy. But that is not true, heaven is not a place, at least not in this universe. But it can be a feeling. So heaven is the same thing as The Holy Grail of Happiness: its the unconditional feeling of happiness, joy, bliss, love etc that is the very fabric of reality.

Most people are stuck in primitive ways of understanding concepts like God, heaven, good, evil, etc. which for as much joy as they bring, also bring their opposite.  These people are ‘of this world’ – the world of love and hate, war and peace, etc etc. But what we all seek is the freedom from all this, to be ‘in this world, but not of it…’ – to be unconditionally happy.

If life itself is inextricably tied to death (it is), then war is required for peace, and love too, is married to hate.  So too acceptance creates rejection, and happiness brings with it sadness. This is what reality down here is.  Society – the collective ‘ego’ of millions of individuals, tell us otherwise. Just like our own ego lies to us (scientific studies prove this), society is built upon the notion that ‘we all just want peace, love, happiness, etc – all the good stuff. None of the bad stuff. We are after all, good people…’.

But if everyone thinks they are good and righteous, why is the world so full of all the bad stuff too?  Oh yea, society tells us “we are good, but other people are ‘bad, etc…’” or the perpetual victim mentality also explains it away. If you still believe all this, then stop reading.

There is the possibility in each and everyone of us, to realize, and live from – another perspective.  Free from the pull of opposites in this world, or as I like to say – ‘to be the eye of the hurricane’. (the eye of a hurricane is typically calm and quiet with no danger).

How do you get there? First realize that such a place exists. Yes Dorothy, Oz was real, and yes Virginia, there is a Santa Claus – they exist as long as you beleive they do.  These places, like heaven, and I might add if you read enough about quantum physics- this world too, are all fabrications of consciousness.  Fabrications of mind. Fabrications, or creations, that we relate to through our feelings. So this place you seek is a feeling inside your heart and mind.

How To Walk On Water or Get To Heaven- Right Now:Click your heels three times, saying ‘there’s no place like home, there’s no place like home…’

Just kidding. Well, sort of. There is a grain of truth in that famous line by Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz. What she was doing to get home was focusing her attention. Your greatest power is will power, or attention. So great in fact, that you cannot even imagine how great.  I believe, in fact, it is so great that contained within this power of yours is the ability to walk on water and to move mountains! The only question is, “How far down the rabbit whole hole can you go Alice” in your quest for Wonderland? The truth is Alice was already (always) in Wonderland, she just needed to go deeper to realize it.

Many great therapists work their magic simply by helping their clients become more present. By using focus, clients are able to become aware of the polarity of the issue causing them pain, and see that both good and bad dwell within the issue. Only their perspective shapes which side they see.  With this new awareness, they see they can appreciate both sides and as such neutralize their strong sense of emotional pain and restore harmony to their life.

So on a more practical level by working on your will power, your focus, attention, its all the same thing – you develop the ability to choose happiness in spite of your current emotional feelings.  In truth, being negative comes natural – its due to entropy, a natural force in the universe that makes things fall apart. Since this is very threatening to fragile little creatures such as we are, being negative and afraid is how we protect ourselves. But it comes with a high price.

But with practice we can develop our power to overcome this natural way of feeling – and in doing so banish stress, anxiety and all negative emotions from our mind. It’s not easy, but with practice it become possible. As we experience this power on deeper levels, we realize a shift in our awareness of what exactly this world is, and why we are down here.  Everything makes sense when we return to innocence. (Innocence by the way refers to ‘In no sense’ for it refers to the awareness that transcends all senses).

Statements like ” What does it profit a man to gain the entire world and lose his soul?” by Jesus, and “Thus she remains serene in the midst of sorrow…because she has given up helping, she is the peoples greatest help…” by Lao Tzu, all make sense on a deeper level. Even statements by the quantum mystic Depak Chopra now make sense “Turning back within myself, I create again and again.”

While understanding this is the first step, the key it to practice it enough so that we live from this power in each and every moment. But we have an enemy dead set against our quest: our very own ego.  This is why “most men live lives of quiet desperation and go to their grave the song still in them”.

Practicing Unconditional Happiness:

How do you practice unconditional happiness? Simple – by doing nothing! That’s right, its so easy, all you have to do is nothing! So just get comfortable and sit. Sit and focus your attention on your breath. Yes, it sounds like meditation, but that word is often what holds people back. So lets call this practice: practicing unconditional happiness.

So if, like Bono of U2, you feel you still haven’t found what you’re looking for, or that you are ‘running to stand still…’ (running around doing stuff all day just so you can relax at the end, only to get up the next day and do it all over again) – realize there is a way out of the madness.  Committ just 10 minutes a day to sit and do nothing, just practice unconditional happiness and discover the Holy Grail for yourself.

Now is the key to everything

the deeper you go inside, the more power you have outside...

To be human is to have problems, dreams and aspirations as of yet unfullfilled, regrets over the past, and often anxiety over the future.  Fortunately there are shortcuts to help us feel better and get back on the right track.  As the creator of Gabatrol, a product that provides almost instant relief from stress and anxiety, I get dozens of phone calls every week from people in emotional stress. As a guest speaker on various radio shows, I speak on the epidemic of stress and anxiety gripping millions of people, freezing them from making progress in their lives. What I have discovered is that, besides natural products like Gabatrol there are other ways out of the fog of negative emotions.

Researching the issue extensively, in part for the creation of Gabatrol, I realized we need to address this issue on all levels; mind, body and spirit.  A healthy body provided a solid foundation for the challenge of life. So one must eat right and exercise. Sleep is just as important as diet and exercise so make sure you get proper sleep.

A healthy body feeds healthy biochemistry in our brains, enabling our mind to function at its best.  With the mind working at its best, its easier to have it shift into a positive, problem solving mode faster and with more efficiency.

Negative Comes Natural:

When facing a problem, we need to actively engage our mind in thinking outside the box. And this box is the natural confines of human nature. A nature which is all too often negative.  In a world of increasing entropy, there are far more negative outcomes than positive ones for a fragile organism such as the one we find ourselves in. Our language reflects that too with somewhere like 6-10 times more negative words than positive.

So thinking outside the box is to realize that first off – our negative state is there because its natural, not because it is necessarily right. If we stop to think, we can also realize there are positive sides to the issue, and now in this awareness, we can choose freely to adopt this positive perspective. When given two equal potentials, the intelligent thing to do is choose the one that can make us feel good. Choosing this will naturally shift your mood and you will feel better.

This may be hard to see in the present, but think back to your past – you should see that many problems ended up opening up positive doors. So every negative has a positive attached to it.  Look for it and you too can break free of negative emotions!

For example, one of my clients had breast cancer and lost her job at the same time. She was devastated as she needed that job to support her family.  And the stress of cancer was intense as well.  But this forced her to take better care of herself, and to wake up and take a more honest look at her life. In the process she realized her job made her so unhappy it may have been a factor in her getting sick in the first place.  The cancer was beaten with a combo of conventional and alternative therapies, and it put her on a new path that has her now happier, healthier and with a dream job making more money. So she can look back and be grateful for the cancer and job loss.

Start the ’shift’ in your thinking and watch the possibilities open up – it all starts NOW! (And by that I mean practicing ‘now’ – aka presence or awareness).

Are you looking for the most effective way to improve every part of your life? It can be summed up in one word. Its something we all do at least once, and those who do it often we make into gods. A powerful word that our society has a deep aversion to. It strikes fear in the hearts of many, and we all go to great lengths to avoid it. Yet it holds the key to enriching your life in every way. It can help make you more happy and healthy and reduce stress, anxiety and depression. Can you guess what this word is?

The dirty word that is the key to your life is: Death

How can death be the key to your life? The obvious is that in this world of opposites, one needs to embrace both sides of every coin so to speak to achieve true peace and balance. Just as we need both the light of day and the dark of night to live healthy, happy lives, we also need to embrace our fear of death. We live in a death averse society and this aversion ends up creating many problems.

But there is an even deeper theme here. Every great teacher from Jesus to the Buddha has taught this same truth – you need to die in order to be reborn. This does not mean to literally kill your physical self. But it does mean to in a sense ‘kill’ your self – otherwise known as your ego.

By weakening the power of your ego over you, you will free yourself from the emotional tantrums and pain it constantly inflicts upon you. Face it – most of us are totally possessed by our ego’s. And this is the source of all our pain.

While we may never escape fully its power, regular work on this can help us to live happier, healthier lives. So how do we work on this? By practicing death of course! Now how can someone living, practice death? Think about it for a moment.

Death is characterized by a motionless body. So how can we approach this? By doing nothing. We only need to do one thing of course to keep ourself alive – and that is breath. So we consciously force ourself to sit and breathe. It sounds so simple, but as you may discover – its incredibly difficult. Your mind (ego) will scream at you and convince you to do something, anything, except try to weaken its power over you. And most of us give in. Hence the world is the way it is. This is what is meant by the saying “The world is the way it is, because you are the way you are…”

The science behind the benefits of meditation is powerful – in fact it is the number one way to reduce all mental and physical risk factors in disease. For example, one study showed people reduced their risk of heart disease and stroke, and death from these, by almost 50% when they practiced meditation. Trust me – the deeper you search, the more the science and the wisdom of the great teachers align in perfect synchronicity.

If you want to be born again to a life of true freedom, of timeless joy and happiness – you must first die to your ’self’. Start the process and make daily meditation part of your life. It will change everything!

Do Nothing and Change Everything! As the CEO of Pure Life, I get people calling in every day with serious emotional and physical issues. Of course almost always they are related. There is, I find, an emotional component to everything in your life, including your health and disease states.

What people most seek is to change things. They want to feel better, to have less stress, anxiety and depression. To lose weight, to make more money, to have better relationships with their family. The list goes on and on for most of us. Yet quite often things do not change, or they are too slow to change, or worse – they can take a turn for the worse. Other than taking healthy products like Gabatrol to make ourselves feel better, are there other positive things we can do? Of course there is, exercise, a good diet and proper sleep can make us cope better too, but these things don’t seem to be the solutions we are searching for.

Fortunately there is one special thing that all the great teachers of the ages have strived to teach. This one special thing is the key to unlock everything. This one special thing is the art of doing nothing. This is not a couch potato, lethargic, lazy, disconnected, apathetic nothing more of us are familiar to when we think of doing nothing. This brings us away from life, and its a way we trick ourselves into thinking we have escaped our problems. But it does not help in the long run. Neither do drugs, alcohol or any other addiction.

This form is an active, focused form of doing nothing. Its one of the key things I tell all my personal clients is to practice. Our minds have us convinced we need to do something to solve our problems. While this is helpful, at times no matter what we do things might not change. So the reason you would want to practice doing nothing is that it can create inside you a feeling of calm, of balance and peace. Resisting the urge to do something, we (with practice) gradually see that we can have the inner peace we desire simply by choosing it.

In fact it is always there, we just need to see it. The practice of doing nothing (others call it awareness, focus, meditation, etc) strengthens this insight and then allows us to go forward into the world of ‘everything’ from a different perspective. It empowers us. You have already experienced it in some form or another, as often doing one thing – being focused and in the moment while playing a sport, or gardening, fishing, watching a sunset, etc – gets us in the flow of the game of life and out of our minds.

But the most direct form of doing nothing is to just do what is needed to live: breathing. This is why breath work is so important, and why so many forms of meditation focus on the breath.

Those who devote themselves to the power of doing nothing, soon realize it is in fact the best way to change everything! It can cause a profound shift in your entire life. It sounds so simple, yet try it yourself and see just how (at first) hard it can be to quiet your mind. You too will one day see that this ‘nothing’ is in fact the source of ‘everything’!

I tell all my clients, there is little good in just exercising, or just taking vitamins, or just meditating if you want to achieve superior results in your life. You need to adopt the lifestyle – eating right, exercising, good sleep, some form of internal work (meditating, walking in the woods, etc) and supplements.

If you suffer from any mental issue you need to get this foundation of health set up before you consider other options like prescription medications. Part of this, especially for emotional issues like stress, anxiety and depression is correcting your fatty-acid profile. Most people consume too much Omega-6 in relation to Omega-3 fats, resulting in a host of negative consequences. Chief among them are cognitive function and for some, an increased sensitivity to emotional distress.

The best way to correct this is to take a short course of larger amounts of fish oil. While everyone should take a minimum of 3 grams (3000 mg) daily of fish oil, this short course would entail 12 grams daily for two weeks. Don’t worry – fish oil is extremely safe and well tolerated. Just take 4 grams with each of three meals each day.

This will do wonders for all sorts of health issues, and even if you are healthy, this short course of fish oil will be helpful. After the two weeks are done, resume taking 3 grams daily.

Do not take cod liver oil as it has too much fat soluble Vitamin-A. This blocks some of the actions of Vitamin-D and is not healthy.

If you need immediate relief from stress, anxiety and depression, you can also try fast acting Gabatrol. It works in as little as 15 minutes to reduce these negative feelings and get you back on the right track.
